My Life Recently

I thought I'd share a bit about the recent happenings in my life.

Back in January I moved. That was quite an adventure, though fun. While moving I ran across a ton of stuff I though was lost. Plus some books I hadn't seen in years. Here are some pictures of our new house.

Moving gave me  an excellent opportunity to go through my stuff, throw out some of it, and reorganize the rest of it. (I love to organize my stuff during my spare time!)

Our new bedroom is huge. Which is nice since I share with three other sisters. All of my school stuff, crafting supplies, and books are now in one room. Much more convenient!

We also got quite a bit of land... including woods and a creek. I can't wait till summer so I can get in the water!

Then came problems with the weather. And it didn't even let us finish moving in first :) Rain, rain, and more rain. Our creek flooded and our back yard looked like a swamp. Even our driveway was covered, leaving some of us 'stranded' for a while. Then came the snow. Then a week of more snow, freezing rain, nice 70's weather, a tornado watch, and last (but definitely NOT least) worse flooding than before. Thankfully this all happened back in January/ beginning of February. We've had pleasant weather since then.

More recntly I started reading North and South (Elizabeth Gaskell) and The Circle series (Ted Dekker). I'm enjoying both of them. Though they can be slow at times. So far I think I definitely prefer the mini series for North and South over the book. I've also been watching some new (and old) films/shows. Like Merlin and Horatio Hornblower.

I'm also watching The Fellowship of the Ring for the umpteenth time (and falling in love with my favorite characters all over again). Which reminds me, I need to reread the book again!

So that's all I've had going on lately. What about ya'll?

what words to write

A blank page. To me the most daunting thing on earth. That perfect page to be famed or scorned forever depending on what YOU put there. What a scary thought. How can you fill up that much space?

I've always hated writing. A strange confession for a blogger you might think. When I was young I thought I'd love to be an authoress when I grew up. I loved coming up with plots from everywhere and anywhere. In fact I still do. I keep a folder full of short plots, my little treasures. However I've realized writing isn't where my talents lie.

Last year I admitted to myself that, seeing my writing is what it is, maybe blogging was not for me. And it may not be, but I don't care. Over the last year I forced myself to keep the break I promised myself. I've found that blogging has become a part of my life. I need a place to write what words I will. I can't tell you how hard it was for me not to hop on blogger and post something. Every time I got the urge I had to remind myself to work on getting this blog up.

Bear with me as I improve my writing and find my new purpose in blogging. I can't wait to see where this new blog will take me.

welcome

Whether you are new here or are coming from my old blog, I just want say 'hello'. If you've followed me before you will remember that I took a break last May. I wanted a chance to recover, I felt burnt out, with nothing left to blog about. My old blog was loosing purpose. Over the summer I thought about what I had learned from blogging over the last few years. What did I enjoy blogging about, what did I like about other blogs. Eventually I made the decision to start a new blog. Here we are! I decided I wanted a blank slat. A place to start fresh. This blog is a place for me to start over. I'll continue posting on fashion and cooking, but I'll be adding a few things. Happenings in my life and things I've been thinking about will be taking the forefront of this blog. Movie and book reviews, giveaways, DIY projects, and random 'likes' will be added for good measure. Join me on this new blogging adventure.

What do you think of the look? Anything you hate or love? What are things about other blog set-ups that you wish everybody used? I'd love some feed back on what my readers enjoy in blog setups.
